The total cargo turnover of the Port of Baku for three quarters of this year increased by 21%

During the nine months of 2021, there was a significant increase in the volume of total cargo transportation in CJSC “Baku International Sea Trade Port” (Port of Baku). So, if in the same period last year more than 3 million 564 thousand tons of cargo were exceeded in the port, then in the same period of 2021 this figure exceeded 4 million 298 thousand tons. This indicates an increase of 21%.In the three quarters of this year, the share of transit cargo accounted for 93% of the total.

Due to the services provided in the Port of Baku in separate areas, the greatest increase in the above period was recorded precisely in dry cargo passes. Thus, the volume of dry cargo transshipped in the port in January-September of this year was more than 856 thousand tons. This means an increase of 69% compared to the same period last year. Fertilizer products of Turkmenistan origin made up the main part of the cargo. In addition, an increase in the number of containers transshipped in Port of Baku  was recorded in the relevant period. During the three quarters of this year, the volume of transshipped containers was 30,774 TEU equivalent.

Another serious increase was recorded in the volume of oil and oil products transferred at Dubendi oil terminal. Thus, in the nine months of 2021, the volume of oil and oil products transferred increased almost 3 times to more than 1 million tons

During the reporting period, a partial decrease was recorded in the number of heavy tonnage vehicles (TIR) ​​transported through the Port of Baku and in the number of wagons passing through the Ferry Terminal. Thus, during the mentioned period, the number of wagons was 22,201, and the number of motor vehicles was 28,491.
