Covid–19

Despite the introduction of a special quarantine regime, thanks to the adoption of preventive measures (establishment of a quarantine zone and increased control, conducting PCR tests), the Port of Baku functioned smoothly during the pandemic.

In the Port of Baku, professional medical workers organized a quick coronavirus testing procedure. A similar practice was also implemented at the Red Bridge checkpoint, through which most foreign drivers enter.

Heavy truck drivers arriving in the country are first tested for coronavirus in a temporary quarantine zone. Drivers who have not tested positive for COVID-19 are then transferred to a clean zone. In both zones, the contacts of drivers with each other and with the external environment is minimized. Given the current situation, additional food service and sanitation facilities had been created in the zone for the convenience of drivers.

Thanks to the measures taken, significant delays in the transport of goods and loading operations in the port were prevented, and at the same time, the safety of the port users and staff was ensured.
