Strategic development plan
The development of the Port of Baku includes 2 stages:
1st stage
In 2019, the development of the first stage was completed and the total handling capacity of the Port of Baku increased to 15 million tons of general cargo and up to 100,000 TEU containers.

The first phase of the construction of the port complex in Alat includes a ferry, general cargo and Ro-Ro and fertilizer terminals, service bridge, railway lines, administrative building, customs post, open storage area, warehouses, container yard, rail and road approaches to bridges, the construction of a heavy goods storage area and a truck parking area.
2nd stage
With the completion of the second stage of the construction of the port complex, the total handling capacity of the Port of Baku will increase to 25 million tons of total cargo and up to 500,000 TEU containers.
